Patna: To manage the post-Chhath rush of passengers returning to metropolitan cities, Indian Railways has introduced a series of special trains from key stations across Bihar. These include Barauni, Patna, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, and Saharsa, connecting to major destinations such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Madurai, Secunderabad, Rajkot, and Kota.
According to railway officials, the initiative aims to ease heavy passenger traffic following the Chhath festival, one of Bihar’s most significant cultural celebrations. Most special services are operating toward Anand Vihar, New Delhi, and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations to accommodate the surge of migrant workers and families returning to their workplaces.

Railways Urge Passengers to Book Early
Railway authorities have urged passengers to check train schedules and seat availability through official IRCTC platforms and authorized ticket counters. Given the surge in post-festival travel, tickets for several routes are being booked quickly.
An East Central Railway official said, “Special services are being operated to handle the return flow of passengers after Chhath. Additional coaches may be added based on demand.”
Focus on Passenger Convenience
The special trains are expected to significantly reduce congestion at Bihar’s major junctions, where thousands of people gather daily after Chhath festivities. Additional security and crowd management measures have been deployed at Patna, Barauni, and Muzaffarpur stations to ensure smooth boarding.
