Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted an inspection of the under-construction multi-level hub and underground route (subway) near Patna Junction. During the visit, he examined the top floor of the three-storey multi-level hub and received detailed information about the construction works from Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, who presented the site plan.
The multi-level parking facility is designed to accommodate 32 buses and 225 cars. It will be directly connected to the parking area near Buddha Smriti Park and Patna Railway Junction through the subway. This connection aims to ease traffic congestion around Patna Junction, providing a hassle-free experience for those visiting the area, including access to Hanuman Temple.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite the construction process and recommended the installation of solar panels on the roof of the multi-level parking to meet its electricity needs sustainably. Following this, he inspected the under-construction subway from the multi-level parking area, emphasizing its importance in improving the traffic system within the Patna Junction Railway Station vicinity.
The multi-level hub is being constructed near Patna GPO Golambar, a central hub connecting various transportation modes. It will include provisions for city buses, autorickshaws, taxis, and private car parking, with the subway extending 440 meters from the multi-level parking to Patna Junction. The subway will feature four travelators of varying lengths, two escalators, and two lifts, ensuring efficient mobility for passengers. Additionally, health ventilation and air conditioning will be installed throughout the underground route.
With entry and exit points located near the multi-level parking, Buddha Smriti Park, and Hanuman Temple, the subway aims to alleviate traffic jams and enhance safety for pedestrians. The Chief Minister highlighted that the subway’s construction addresses the chronic traffic congestion near Patna Junction, which has posed challenges for commuters and increased the risk of accidents.
The inspection was attended by Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitin Naveen, Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, and other senior officials, including the Commissioner of Patna Division, District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh, and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra. The Chief Minister underscored the need for timely and quality construction to facilitate easier movement for passengers and mitigate traffic issues.
