New Delhi: Union minister for food processing industries and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president, Chirag Paswan, praised PM Narendra Modi for giving “global recognition” to India’s food products, as the prime minister inaugurated World Food India 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Paswan said he felt “immense pride” in welcoming PM Modi to the flagship event, which he described as a global platform for showcasing India’s food processing sector through “innovation and entrepreneurship”. He credited the prime minister for promoting Indian food products worldwide, highlighting the international recognition now enjoyed by makhana (fox nuts) from Bihar following the creation of a dedicated Makhana Board.

“Today, under the leadership of the prime minister, the ministry is providing support and empowerment at all levels, from small to large enterprises, through various schemes. This is creating employment opportunities for youth and enabling them to become entrepreneurs and job creators,” Paswan told reporters.
In his address, PM Modi emphasised India’s role in strengthening global food security and said this contribution would grow in the years ahead. Stressing the importance of cooperation, he pointed to the role of cooperatives in boosting the rural economy and said small farmers were emerging as a “major force in the market”, which he framed as part of the vision for an Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) India.

Paswan accompanied PM Modi on a tour of the exhibition, where beneficiaries of the ministry’s schemes shared how government support had enabled them to upgrade technology, expand capacity and grow their businesses.
Kundan Kumar, state media in-charge for the party, said: “We are committed to realising the vision of making India the ‘food basket of the world’.”
