Patna: LJP (Ram Vilas) leader and Union Minister Chirag Paswan has lashed out at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), accusing the opposition party of resorting to intimidation tactics ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
The remarks came after the campaign vehicle of LJP candidate Arun Kumar was reportedly attacked near Alipur village in Bakhtiyarpur on Sunday. Witnesses said the vehicle was vandalised and the driver injured during the incident. Paswan linked the assault to elements aligned with the RJD.
Speaking to the media, Paswan said: “Opposition parties primarily adhere to the principle of nationalism and win elections by any means necessary. However, our party is against those who hold such a mindset. The anti-social elements who attacked the campaign vehicle of Arun Kumar have links to the opposition party itself.”
He added that his party would not allow “jungle raj” – a term often used in Bihar to describe lawlessness – to return to the state. Paswan emphasised that only the votes of the deprived are legitimate and criticised RJD for allegedly blocking social and political advancement of marginalized communities.
“The government is committed to taking the strictest possible action against the culprits,” he said, underlining his intent to ensure law and order during the election period.
