Patna: The Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna – Business Incubation and Innovation Foundation (CIMP-BIIF) has launched a 15-day residential certification programme on Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) for microfinance professionals.
The programme, which begins on August 04, 2026, aims to develop professionals with knowledge of microfinance operations, regulatory frameworks, ethical practices and managerial skills required for responsible financial services.
The first batch includes 47 participants from Annapurna Finance Private Limited, a microfinance institution operating across the country.
Focus On Microfinance Skills And Compliance
The training curriculum covers the evolution of microfinance, different lending models, Self-Help Group (SHG) and Joint Liability Group (JLG) models, financial inclusion, and regulatory provisions for NBFC-MFIs under the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Participants will also receive training on regulatory compliance, financial statement analysis, customer protection, fair practices codes, responsible lending, prevention of over-indebtedness and business ethics.
The programme also includes sessions on decision-making, communication and presentation skills, stress management, time management and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in microfinance operations.
CIMP Highlights Need For Skilled Workforce
CIMP Director Prof. Rana Singh said Bihar has emerged as the country’s largest microfinance market, with an outstanding loan portfolio of around Rs 60,000 crore.
He said the expansion of the sector has increased the demand for professionals with technical expertise, ethical understanding and a customer-focused approach.
“This programme reflects CIMP’s commitment to developing a skilled workforce capable of driving inclusive finance and sustainable economic growth,” Singh said.
Industry-Academia Partnership For Capacity Building
CIMP-BIIF CEO Kumod Kumar said the programme aims to create a skilled and future-ready workforce for the financial inclusion sector by combining academic learning with industry experience.
He said the initiative will enhance participants’ professional capabilities while supporting better institutional performance in the microfinance sector.
Dr Sunil Kumar, Associate Dean at CIMP and former Chief General Manager of NABARD, said the curriculum was developed after field visits to microfinance institution branches and a Training Need Assessment.
He said the programme includes both technical subjects and personality development modules to prepare participants for operational responsibilities while following ethical lending practices.
The institute said the initiative will support capacity building among microfinance institutions in Bihar and contribute to the development of trained human resources for the BFSI sector.
