Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday conducted an extensive inspection of the rising water levels of the Ganga in Patna and reviewed ongoing infrastructure and beautification works along the river.
Travelling via Atal Path, Kumar visited the JP Ganga Path corridor, where he assessed flood conditions up to Gai Ghat. The Chief Minister also reviewed plantation and beautification works in progress along the stretch and directed officials to accelerate the work while maintaining quality.
At Digha Ghat, Kumar inspected the construction of a new six-lane bridge being built parallel to JP Setu, which will connect Digha in Patna to Sonpur in Saran district. Briefed by senior engineers and officials, Kumar emphasised the strategic importance of the bridge in easing traffic between North and South Bihar. “This bridge will significantly reduce the load on the Mahatma Gandhi Setu and JP Setu and facilitate smoother travel for commuters between Patna and Saran,” he said.
The Chief Minister also made halts at Krishna Ghat and Gandhi Ghat to assess the local situation and reviewed preparations in areas vulnerable to river swelling. He instructed district and disaster management authorities to stay vigilant and ensure timely action in low-lying areas as water levels continue to rise.
