Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today visited Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) to review the ongoing redevelopment and construction works, emphasising the need for timely completion and world-class medical facilities.
During the inspection, CM Nitish toured the first floor of the newly constructed Emergency Building (Phase-1), where officials briefed him on upgrades in the Radiology Department, including the installation of advanced CT scan and MRI machines. He later proceeded to the fifth floor to examine the Pediatric Department, reviewing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), nurses’ stations, and linen storage areas.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the hospital’s redevelopment will expand its capacity to 5,462 beds, with work progressing rapidly to ensure modern healthcare facilities are available to patients. He instructed authorities to prioritise construction quality and safety standards while completing the project within the stipulated timeframe. He stressed that accommodation for doctors, nurses, and students must also be upgraded to support efficient hospital operations.

The Chief Minister additionally inspected ongoing park and beautification work along JP Ganga Path, highlighting the government’s focus on infrastructure improvements beyond healthcare.
Accompanying CM Nitish were Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Health Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, Special Secretary Himanshu Sharma, PMCH Superintendent Dr Rajiv Kumar Singh, and other senior officials and doctors overseeing the hospital redevelopment.
