Begusarai: On the concluding day of his ‘Samriddhi Yatra’, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled a sweeping development package in Begusarai, the state’s self-styled industrial hub. The initiative includes 402 schemes worth Rs 330 crore, encompassing infrastructure, roads, and public amenities aimed at accelerating the district’s growth.
During his visit, CM laid the foundation stone for 190 projects valued at Rs 118.67 crore and inaugurated 212 schemes worth Rs 211.97 crore. Among the highlights was the long-awaited Campa Cola factory, which the Chief Minister described as a milestone for industrial expansion in the region.
The event, held at Gandhi Maidan and the BIADA campus, was briefly disrupted when a bull wandered onto the helipad, forcing security personnel into a chaotic effort to restore order. Local residents eventually helped usher the animal away without incident.
Addressing a large public gathering, he reflected on Bihar’s past, citing an era before 2005 marked by crime and communal tension. “Once evening fell, people hesitated to step out of their homes,” he said, emphasising improvements in law and order and citing measures such as fencing graveyards and building boundary walls around temples to maintain peace. He claimed that these initiatives have helped prevent communal conflicts and improved connectivity across the state.
The Chief Minister also toured local factories before continuing his journey to Sheikhpura and returning to Patna. Officials hope the new development schemes will inject fresh momentum into Begusarai’s economy and provide citizens with enhanced facilities.
