Patna: At an Extremely Backward Class (EBC) conference organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Patna, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said the state government is committed to the welfare, security and political representation of EBC communities, while also launching sharp criticism of opposition parties.
The event was held as part of the party’s outreach to consolidate support among EBC voters following recent electoral developments.
Focus on EBC Welfare and Political Representation
Addressing the gathering, Choudhary said the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked for the development of all sections of society.
He said EBC communities, which he estimated to form a significant share of Bihar’s population, would continue to receive protection and political support. He added that governance efforts were aimed at strengthening representation of backward communities in public life.
Law and Order and Action Against Crime
He asserted that the government is taking strict action against organised crime and offenders in Bihar. He said the administration is committed to ensuring that public safety is not compromised.
Referring to recent examination-related irregularities, including the NEET case, he said authorities had acted swiftly and arrests were made. He added that the government would not tolerate any attempt to undermine the examination system.
Administrative Accountability Measures
On governance, Choudhary highlighted a time-bound grievance redressal system, stating that officials are expected to resolve public issues within 30 days. He said escalation notices are issued if delays continue, followed by disciplinary action if necessary.
He said the aim was to improve efficiency and accountability in administrative functioning across the state.
Political Attack on Opposition
The Chief Minister criticised opposition parties, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal, alleging that they had failed to deliver comparable welfare outcomes. He also made remarks on former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in the context of governance and security concerns.
Choudhary further said that the BJP had consistently supported social reform measures associated with Karpoori Thakur, including reservation policies.
Minister Highlights Welfare Schemes
Bihar government minister Pramod Chandravanshi also addressed the conference, highlighting central welfare schemes including sanitation initiatives and the Ayushman Bharat health insurance programme.
He credited Prime Minister Modi with expanding benefits for economically weaker sections and said such schemes had improved access to healthcare and basic amenities.
The conference concluded with BJP leaders reiterating their focus on EBC outreach, governance reforms and continued welfare-driven policies, while sharpening their political messaging against opposition parties in Bihar’s evolving caste and electoral landscape.
