Patna: Samrat Choudhary met Nitish Kumar shortly after returning to Patna from Delhi on Wednesday, in a meeting seen as politically significant ahead of the new government’s first cabinet session later in the day.
Photographs circulating from the meeting show Kumar placing a hand on Choudhary’s shoulder, while the chief minister greets him with a bowed head, a gesture interpreted by observers as reflecting the continuing political equation between the two leaders.
The first cabinet meeting of the new Bihar government is scheduled for 6pm on Wednesday. Officials and party sources indicated that key decisions, particularly those related to employment and youth welfare, are likely to be announced. The initial set of decisions is expected to signal the administration’s priorities and set the tone for its governance agenda.
Choudhary’s return to Patna follows a series of meetings in Delhi, including an interaction with the prime minister, Narendra Modi, on April 21. In a post on social media platform X, Choudhary said he had received guidance from PM Modi on development and public welfare initiatives, adding that the prime minister’s support would provide fresh direction to Bihar’s progress.
During his visit, the chief minister also met senior political figures, including Radha Mohan Singh and Giriraj Singh, to discuss state-related matters.
He also visited the offices of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party during his time in the capital, where he held discussions with senior leaders, including Nitin Nabin.
According to party sources, deliberations over the composition of the new cabinet were finalised during these meetings. Attention is now focused on Wednesday evening’s cabinet session, which is expected to offer the clearest indication yet of the government’s immediate policy direction.
