Patna: The Bihar State Religious Trust Council has directed that Ganga Aarti will now be performed daily at all monasteries and temples situated along the banks of the River Ganga across the state, beginning May 25.
The initiative will be formally launched on Ganga Dussehra, marking the descent of River Ganga to Earth, according to Council chairman Prof. Ranvir Nandan.
Statewide Implementation Plan
Prof. Nandan said letters are being issued to Mahants, trustees, temple committees and managers of all affiliated religious institutions to ensure implementation of the daily ritual.
The directive covers major Ganga-side locations including Patna, Buxar, Ara, Chhapra, Fatuha, Bakhtiyarpur, Munger, Bhagalpur and Vaishali.
List Of Key Temples Included
In Bhagalpur district, instructions will be sent to Shri Ajgaivinath Temple (Sultanganj), Shri Budhanath Temple, Shri Radhakrishna Temple (Golaghat), Shri Bateshwar Asthan (Kahalgaon) and Shri Ram-Janaki Temple (Trimuhan, Kahalgaon).
In Munger, the covered sites include Shri Jagannath Temple, Shri Ram Temple, Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple (all at Kashtaharani Ghat), Shri Ram-Janaki Temple (Sojhi Ghat) and Shri Ram-Janaki Temple (Belwaghat).
In Buxar district, temples such as Shri Vishwamitra Ashram (Badi Mathiya, Ramrekha Ghat), Shri Rameshwarnath Mahadev Temple (Ramrekha Ghat) and Shri Charitravan Temple have been included.
In Patna, the list features Shri Kali Sthan, Sati Sthan, Shri Shankar Sthan (Bansghat), Shri Vishnu Bhagwan Temple (Sumati Path, Rani Ghat, Mahendru), Shri Bhagwati Sita Temple (Sita Ghat), Shri Jal Govind Sthan (Kachhuara), Shri Mauni Baba’s Ashram (Gharhochak, Kripal Tola, Fatuha), Shri Ram-Janaki Thakur Bari (Fatuha) and Shri Ganga Temple (Rikabganj, Malsalami, Patna City).
Cleanliness And Awareness Drive
The council said the initiative aims to promote the message of “Uninterrupted Ganga, Clean Ganga, Healthy Ganga, and Healthy Bihar”. It added that periodic awareness campaigns will also be conducted to maintain the cleanliness and sanctity of the river.
