Patna: The land acquisition process for the Patna–Sasaram four-lane project, being developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, has been accelerated following the sanction of Rs 149.76 crore by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for compensation payments in Patna district.
Officials said a total of 176.16 acres of land will be acquired across 21 mauzas (revenue villages) falling under the Naubatpur and Bihta administrative circles.
Special Camps and Document Verification
To speed up the process, special camps have been set up in Naubatpur and Bihta. Administrative teams are working in “mission mode” to rectify and update land records.
Circle Officers are overseeing the verification and updating of Jamabandis (records of rights) and other land documents of affected landowners (raiyats). Authorities are also conducting awareness drives to ensure timely submission of required paperwork.
Public Cooperation and Compensation Process
The district administration has urged landowners to cooperate with the process and submit necessary documents without delay. Officials said this would help ensure smooth disbursement of compensation and reduce procedural bottlenecks.
The ongoing awareness campaigns aim to minimise disputes and ensure accurate documentation ahead of acquisition.
Construction Timeline Linked to Land Acquisition
According to officials, construction work on the four-lane project will begin only after at least 80 per cent of the required land has been acquired.
The project is part of the Bharatmala scheme, aimed at improving regional connectivity and strengthening road infrastructure between Patna and Sasaram.
