Patna: Members of Parliament from across the Danapur Division on Tuesday stressed the need for faster completion of railway infrastructure projects and further improvement in passenger amenities during a meeting of the Divisional Parliamentary Committee held at Mahendru Ghat in Patna.
The meeting was chaired by Nalanda MP Kaushalendra Kumar and attended by senior officials of East Central Railway, including General Manager Chhatrasal Singh and Danapur Divisional Railway Manager Vinod Kumar.
During the meeting, MPs raised public-interest issues and offered suggestions aimed at strengthening railway services and accelerating development works across the division. They emphasised that infrastructure projects should be completed on priority and reviewed future plans for railway expansion.
Railway Officials Present Progress Report
Welcoming the MPs and their representatives, East Central Railway General Manager Chhatrasal Singh outlined the division’s achievements in passenger services, infrastructure development and project execution.
He said Danapur Division, which celebrated its centenary year in 2025, continues to advance key projects while working to improve train punctuality and operational efficiency.
According to railway officials, the division operated 518 pairs of special trains during the 2025-26 financial year to manage festival and peak-season travel demand. A total of 2,262 additional coaches were also attached to various trains during the period.
Major Projects Underway
Railway authorities informed the committee that several major infrastructure projects are currently under different stages of execution.
Construction work is underway for the Vande Bharat Trainset Maintenance Depot at Pataliputra and five new platforms at Harding Park. The proposed Rajgir Coaching Complex and Fatuha Mega Coaching Terminal are also progressing in phases.
Officials further highlighted ongoing redevelopment works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, under which stations are being upgraded with a long-term development vision.
MPs Offer Suggestions
The parliamentary committee members provided recommendations on passenger convenience, railway connectivity and infrastructure strengthening. Discussions also focused on future development plans and measures to improve railway services across the region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, General Manager Chhatrasal Singh thanked the MPs for their suggestions and said their inputs would help shape future railway development strategies and project priorities.

The meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha MPs Shivesh Kumar and Shambhu Sharan Patel, along with Lok Sabha MPs Sudama Prasad (Ara), Sudhakar Singh (Buxar), Afzal Ansari (Ghazipur) and Vivek Thakur (Nawada).
Representatives of several MPs and Union ministers, including those of Nitish Kumar, Giriraj Singh, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Ravi Shankar Prasad and others, also participated in the discussions.
