Patna: Bihar is likely to experience a mixed weather pattern on Wednesday, June 24, with scattered rainfall forecast in some parts of the state even as intense heat and heatwave conditions continue in others, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The latest weather update suggests that while sections of the state could receive rain accompanied by lightning activity, several districts are expected to remain under the influence of high temperatures and humid conditions.
Meteorologists have advised residents to remain cautious, particularly during periods of lightning and thunderstorms.
Rain And Lightning Forecast
The IMD has forecast isolated to scattered rainfall across parts of Bihar on June 24.
Alongside rainfall, moderate to intense lightning activity is also likely in some areas, raising concerns for farmers, outdoor workers and people travelling during adverse weather conditions.
Officials have urged residents to avoid open spaces during thunderstorms and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.
Heatwave Conditions To Continue
Despite the likelihood of rainfall in some districts, the weather department has warned that heatwave-like conditions are expected to persist in several parts of the state.
High daytime temperatures and humidity levels are likely to continue, creating uncomfortable conditions for residents, particularly during afternoon hours.
The warning comes after several districts recorded above-normal temperatures in recent days, with parts of Bihar continuing to experience prolonged spells of heat despite the gradual advancement of the southwest monsoon.
Advisory For Farmers
In view of the fluctuating weather conditions, the Meteorological Department has issued a series of agrometeorological advisories for farmers and horticulturists.
IMD Advisory For Agriculture And Horticulture
| Advisory | Purpose |
| Light irrigation of vegetable crops and orchards | Maintain moisture during high temperatures |
| Mulching using crop residue, straw or polythene | Reduce moisture loss from soil |
| Installation of temporary shade nets | Protect fruit plants from heat stress and intense sunlight |
Agricultural experts say these measures can help minimise crop damage during periods of extreme heat while also improving moisture retention ahead of the monsoon’s full arrival.
Citizens Urged To Stay Alert
The IMD has advised people to take precautions against heat-related illnesses by staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and limiting outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
Residents have also been urged to seek shelter during thunderstorms and remain alert to weather updates as Bihar continues to experience a transition period marked by both pre-monsoon heat and intermittent rainfall.
Meteorologists expect weather conditions to remain variable over the coming days as monsoon activity gradually strengthens across the state.
