Patna: The Department of Data Science and Analytics at Patna Women’s College inaugurated its newly formed DataMinds – The Data Science & Analytics Club on September 3 at B.J. Sullivan Hall.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome song. Dr Priyadarshini, Head of the Department of Data Science and Analytics and Coordinator of DataMinds, welcomed the chief guest, Prof Dr Amarendra Mishra, former PG Head of the Department of Statistics at Patna University.
Dr Priyadarshini outlined the club’s vision of promoting data literacy, practical learning and the application of classroom knowledge to real-world situations.
Focus On Data Literacy And Ethics
Addressing the gathering, Prof Dr Amarendra Mishra highlighted the growing importance of Data Science and Analytics and its role in extracting meaningful insights from data.
He stressed the need to develop data-driven reasoning and data literacy from the school level. He also pointed to the growing demand for skilled data professionals and emphasised the importance of handling data with integrity and ethical responsibility.
Mishra said data skills can support contributions across sectors including healthcare, education and risk analysis.
Logo Unveiled, Office Bearers Take Oath
Mishra formally inaugurated the club by unveiling the DataMinds logo. The ceremony was followed by the distribution of badges to the club’s office bearers and an oath-taking ceremony.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shaskshi Singh, President of the DataMinds Club.
The inauguration marks the beginning of the club’s activities aimed at learning, innovation and collaboration. Under the vision “Empowering Every Student with the Language of Data,” DataMinds seeks to provide students with opportunities to explore data and develop skills relevant to future academic and professional challenges.
