Patna: As the Bihar Assembly elections enter their final stages, Delhi Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief campaigner Rekha Gupta launched a sharp attack on the opposition and the Grand Alliance, accusing them of exploiting the sacrifices of the Indian army for electoral gains.
Speaking at a rally, Gupta condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments, alleging that parties have been dragging the nation’s armed forces into “divisive politics”. “Those questioning national security are traitors,” she said, warning that “the people of the nation will never forgive those who question the martyrdom of the army.” She added that those attempting to defame India internationally or undermine the country’s highest leadership would face moral condemnation at the ballot box.
Gupta also targeted the opposition over religious and caste politics, asserting that Grand Alliance parties were using both the army and religion for political gain. “Those who looted the hard-earned money of the poor are today engaged in politics in the name of the army and religion,” she said, framing the BJP as the sole defender of national unity, security, and development.
The first phase of voting in Bihar is scheduled for November 6, with the second phase set for November 11. Election results are expected on November 14. The campaign has seen the BJP emphasise development and national issues, while the Grand Alliance has sought to highlight concerns such as unemployment and inflation.
