Katihar/Patna: The Delhi Police has arrested two men from Katihar district in Bihar in connection with an alleged terror conspiracy, officials said, adding that the investigation has led to further arrests in multiple states.
The accused have been identified as Mohammad Sohail and Sheikh Imran, both plumbers by profession. They are suspected of being part of an online network allegedly linked to the group “Ghazwa-e-Hind”.
Alleged Conspiracy And Reconnaissance
Police said the two were active in social media groups and were allegedly planning to manufacture explosive devices. Investigators also claim the suspects conducted reconnaissance of high-profile locations in Delhi, including the Red Fort and India Gate.
Authorities allege the group was preparing for a potential large-scale attack.
Multi-State Operation
In coordinated operations across Bihar, Maharashtra and Odisha, the Special Cell arrested a total of four individuals suspected to be part of a sleeper cell.
Officials said the network was engaged in online radicalisation, recruitment and training activities.
Recovery Of Explosives
During the investigation, police said an improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered from one of the accused. Two other suspects were allegedly procuring materials to assemble remote-controlled explosive devices.
Ongoing Investigation
All the accused are currently being interrogated, with investigators examining possible links, funding sources and wider connections within the network.
Police said further details are expected to emerge as the probe continues.
