Patna: Cold weather has set in across Bihar, with several districts experiencing dense morning fog. The Meteorological Department has predicted a further drop of one to three degrees in minimum temperatures over the next 48 hours. Morning fog is expected to persist in many areas, reducing visibility to 100 meters or below.
Dense fog was reported in at least ten cities in the past 24 hours, including Patna, Khagaria, Gopalganj, Saran, Begusarai, Kishanganj, Lakhisarai, and Bettiah. In several districts such as Gopalganj, Khagaria, Begusarai, Saran, and Kishanganj, visibility dropped to 100-200 meters, affecting both pedestrian and vehicular movement. Residents were seen driving with headlights on to navigate the foggy conditions safely.
Patna is expected to see a minimum temperature drop of 1-2 degrees in the coming days. While mild sunshine is likely during the day, nights are becoming colder, and temperatures may steadily decline before stabilizing.
Weather experts attribute the sudden cold to dry, chilly winds blowing from North India over the past 48 hours. The northwesterly winds, combined with increased atmospheric humidity, have contributed to dense fog formation during early mornings and nights, despite sunny days.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is no immediate forecast of rain, but foggy conditions may persist for the next two to three days, with partly sunny weather during daytime and cold, foggy mornings and nights.
Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling, especially in areas where visibility remains low.
