Mumbai: The highly anticipated sequel to last year’s blockbuster Dhurandhar is beginning to take shape, with fresh details emerging around its title and teaser. According to industry reports, the film is likely to be titled “Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge”, although the makers are yet to make an official announcement.
The teaser for the sequel has reportedly been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and awarded an ‘A’ certificate, indicating mature content. Sources say the teaser was certified on 19 January and has a runtime of 1 minute and 48 seconds, with the filmmakers opting to keep it brief and deliberately light on plot details.
There is also speculation that the teaser will be unveiled on 23 January, during the interval of the upcoming release Border 2. If confirmed, the move would mark a high-profile promotional push ahead of the film’s planned release in March. The sequel is also expected to face strong box office competition from Kannada star Yash’s forthcoming film Toxic.
The original Dhurandhar, released on December 5, 2025, proved to be a commercial juggernaut, earning more than Rs 1,300 crore worldwide and close to Rs 900 crore in India alone. Directed by Aditya Dhar and featuring an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt and Rakesh Bedi, the film went on to become the highest-grossing release of several cast members’ careers. It currently stands as the second highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, behind Aamir Khan’s Dangal, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Pathaan.
