Patna: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Patna celebrated the harvest festival of Pongal on 19 January, turning its campus into a vibrant showcase of India’s cultural diversity and traditions. Students, faculty and staff participated enthusiastically in the event, which underscored the values of gratitude, prosperity and harmony with nature associated with the festival.
The campus was decorated with colourful rangoli, festive motifs and traditional elements inspired by Pongal, creating an atmosphere of warmth and celebration. The event offered a glimpse into south Indian cultural practices while reinforcing the idea of unity in diversity within the institute’s academic environment.

Addressing the gathering, Col Rahul Sharma, director of NIFT Patna, stressed the importance of celebrating India’s varied cultural traditions in educational institutions. He said such occasions help foster inclusivity, cultural awareness and holistic learning among students, alongside their academic and creative development.
The programme included traditional rituals, student-led cultural performances and interactive sessions, allowing participants to engage closely with the spirit of the festival. Organisers said the celebration reflected NIFT Patna’s commitment to nurturing socially aware and culturally sensitive professionals.
