Drama Eeha Staged at Women’s Theatre Festival in Patna on Bihar Diwas

Patna: The five-day Women’s Theatre Festival 2025, organized by the Department of Art, Culture and Youth in collaboration with Bihar Sangeet Natak Academy, continued at Premchand Rangshala, Rajendra Nagar. On the third day of the festival, Darbhanga’s theatre group, Voice Into Theatre, presented Eeha, directed by Manjari Mani Tripathi. The festival, celebrating Bihar Diwas, aims to highlight women’s contributions to theatre.
Eeha portrays the struggles of slum children deprived of education, forced to fend for themselves like wildflowers growing in harsh conditions. The protagonist, Eeha, dreams of escaping the darkness of poverty through education, hoping to secure a better future for herself and her sister. The play sheds light on the challenges faced by marginalized children and their fight between survival and aspirations. The audience was deeply moved by Eeha’s journey, responding with heartfelt applause.
The cast featured Lakshmi as Eeha, Survi Disha as her sister, Roma as their mother, Rakhi as their aunt, Vicky as the father, and Khushi as Pari, along with Roli, Anand, Ankit, Badal, Duggu, Disha, Neha, Naitik, Samar, Roma, Roshni, Rahul, Simar, Sanvi, and Disha in various supporting roles. In addition to Eeha, the street play Maana ki sab kushaal mangal hai? was performed by Naya Rang Muzaffarpur Natya Sansthan. The stage proceedings were conducted by Ruby Khatoon.
The event saw the presence of Bihar Sangeet Natak Academy Secretary Anil Kumar Sinha, Assistant Secretary Kirti Alok, and several senior theatre artists. The Women’s Theatre Festival continues to serve as a platform for social awareness through powerful theatrical performances.
