Patna: The Bihar Economic Offences Unit (EOU) conducted searches at four locations linked to Ajit Amar, a District Programme Officer (DPO) in Saharsa, on Friday after an investigation allegedly found that his assets exceeded his known sources of income by 72.35%.
The searches covered his ancestral home and private residence in Siwan, his rented accommodation in Naya Bazar, Saharsa, his government office in Saharsa and his government residence in Gandak Colony, Chhapra.
Investigators examined property records, bank documents, investment papers and other financial records during the operation.
Property And Jewellery Recovered
According to the EOU investigation, Amar had built a large house on ancestral land in Raini, under Daraunda police station in Siwan district, at a reported cost of more than Rs 40 lakh.
Thirty construction-related bills were recovered during the search of the property.
Officials also recovered jewellery valued at around Rs 40.05 lakh from his private residence in his ancestral village. A separate receipt relating to jewellery worth Rs 27 lakh was also found.
Investigators identified four bank accounts held in the names of Amar and his wife, Puja Kumari, along with documents relating to investments.
Land Purchased In Wife’s Name
The EOU also recovered documents relating to the purchase of six bighas, nine kathas and eight dhurs of land in Parsagarh, Saran, in his wife’s name.
The land was reportedly purchased on May 23, 2025, for Rs 41.50 lakh.
A Mahindra Scorpio Classic, purchased on April 24, 2023, for Rs 15,34,998, and a motorcycle were also found during the searches.

Salary Put At Rs 38 Lakh
According to the investigation, Amar had earned approximately Rs 38 lakh in salary during his roughly four-and-a-half years in government service.
He joined service and assumed his position in Saharsa on February 4, 2022.
Allegations of disproportionate assets surfaced during his deputation as DPO (Planning and Accounts) in Chhapra, following which the district administration initiated an inquiry.
The latest EOU searches form part of the investigation into the alleged accumulation of assets beyond his known sources of income. The agency’s scrutiny of property, financial and other documents is continuing.
