Darbhanga: A woman named Gudiya Devi, a resident of Ward No. 7, has lodged an FIR at Singhwada police station in Darbhanga, alleging fraud in the name of the ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana.’
The complaint names Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav, former MLA Rishi Mishra, and Congress leader Mashkoor Ahmed Usmani, along with local workers.
According to the complaint, RJD-Congress workers allegedly collected Aadhaar cards, mobile numbers, and ₹200 each from several women after making them fill forms under the scheme. The women were reportedly assured that ₹2,500 would be credited to their accounts every month.
Gudiya Devi stated that a few days ago, some people approached her house, explained the scheme, and asked her to gather women from the neighbourhood. After filling out the forms, the women were asked to provide their Aadhaar details and money. She further said that when her husband, Mithilesh Bhagat, returned home and learned about the incident, he told her that it was a fraud orchestrated in the name of the scheme.
“This is a conspiracy to cheat innocent people with the involvement of senior political leaders,” her husband alleged.
Police Investigation Underway
Confirming the development, Singhwada Police Station Incharge Vasant Kumar said that a case (No. 253/25) has been registered based on the woman’s complaint. The FIR has been lodged under Section 318(4)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “The matter is under investigation, and strict action will be taken after verification,” he added.
