Patna: Police have brought Ashwini Kumar Sukta, accused of threatening to bomb Gandhi Maidan police station and place explosives at multiple locations, from Mumbai to Patna on transit remand. He was earlier lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail.
According to officials, Sukta has been taken into four-day transit remand by Gandhi Maidan police station for interrogation.
Threat Messages to Mumbai and Patna Police
On 4th September, Sukta allegedly sent a threatening message to Mumbai Police, claiming that “400 human bombs” had been planted at 34 locations across the city on Ganesh Chaturdashi. On the same day, he also sent a WhatsApp message to the official number of Gandhi Maidan police station in-charge, identifying himself as “Firoz,” and threatening to place bombs at 23 sites in Gandhi Maidan.
Mumbai Police traced him to Noida and arrested him on 6th September. Investigation revealed that the SIM card used for the threats was obtained using the identity of a man named Himanshu.
Gandhi Maidan police station in-charge Akhilesh Mishra said Sukta was being questioned after being brought to Patna. He reportedly used the name Firoz because, according to him, police officer Firoz had earlier sent him to jail in a fraud case.
Past Criminal Record and Fraud Case
Police records show that Sukta was jailed earlier this year in connection with a fraud case.
Claims of Conspiracy and Personal Disputes
During interrogation, Sukta described himself as an astrologer, Vastu expert, and researcher in music. He claimed that he had been falsely implicated by his old friend, Atmanand Das, a resident of Nehru Nagar who sells books. According to Sukta, Das had borrowed ₹15 lakh from him and failed to repay the amount. He alleged that Das trapped him in the bomb threat case due to the money dispute.
Sukta further said that in March 2025, Das had sent a mobile phone to his Delhi address through courier, which was later found in his possession and led to his arrest.
Originally from RK Bhattacharya Road in Patna, Sukta said he sold his house in 2020 and shifted to Delhi. He claims to hold a PhD in music and describes himself as a scientist researching things “that cannot be seen with eyes.”
