Patna: An FIR has been registered against Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Union Minister Lalan Singh in Mokama for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct during an election roadshow. The case also names organisers of the campaign event, which was held in support of Janata Dal (United) candidate Anant Singh.
According to police, the roadshow featured more vehicles than were officially permitted. The unauthorised vehicles have since been seized, and the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police confirmed that further action is being taken.
Anant Singh, currently lodged in Beur Jail in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case, is contesting the Mokama assembly seat. Lalan Singh and Samrat Choudhary led a 30-kilometre roadshow from Pandarak to Mokama on Monday, campaigning in an open jeep and appealing to voters for Singh’s victory.
Throughout the campaign, Lalan Singh addressed gatherings in Mokama, asserting that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would return to power under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership. Responding to questions about Anant Singh’s criminal case, he alleged that the incident was part of a “conspiracy” and called for a comprehensive police investigation.
“The police should conduct a thorough probe and expose everyone involved,” Singh said, adding, “Modi and Nitish are hailed in Bihar. The NDA government will be formed again under Nitish’s leadership.”
He also dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s recent viral video of bathing in a pond, saying, “He keeps doing this.”
