Patna: Five girls who had gone missing from Bhagalpur district were safely recovered from Patna Junction on Thursday following swift action by the Government Railway Police (GRP).
According to police officials, a complaint regarding the disappearance of the girls was lodged at Nathnagar police station in Bhagalpur on May 20 by a woman whose daughter was among those missing. The incident had triggered concern among family members, prompting the police to issue an alert.
Girls Located During Routine Surveillance
At around 3 pm on Thursday, Rail Police personnel stationed at Patna Junction noticed five girls wandering alone on Platform Number 1.
Officials said the behaviour of the girls appeared suspicious, following which the personnel questioned them. During the interaction, it emerged that all five girls had travelled from Bhagalpur and had reached Patna without informing their families.
The girls were immediately taken into protective custody by the Rail Police.
Police Inform Bhagalpur Authorities
After confirming preliminary details, the Patna GRP informed the Bhagalpur Police and other concerned authorities about the recovery of the girls.
A GRP DSP said the girls were safe and that further investigation was underway to determine the circumstances under which they left their homes and arrived in Patna.
Police officials are also examining CCTV footage from Patna Junction and nearby areas as part of the inquiry.
Families Express Relief
The recovery of the girls brought relief to their families, who had been searching for them since their disappearance was reported.
Family members appreciated the prompt response and vigilance shown by the Rail Police personnel. Officials said timely intervention helped prevent any possible untoward incident.
Investigation Continues
Police are currently investigating whether the girls had left home voluntarily or if other factors were involved in the case.
Officials stated that further questioning of the girls would help establish the complete sequence of events. The process of safely reuniting the girls with their families has also been initiated.
