Danapur: A video showing chaos during the distribution of relief supplies among flood-affected families in Manas panchayat of Danapur has surfaced on social media, prompting the administration to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
The video shows a large number of flood-affected people wading through floodwaters to reach a boat carrying dry ration packets. Some people can also be seen jumping into the water after collecting relief packets from the boat.
Following the circulation of the video, Danapur Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Virupaksha Vikram Singh ordered an inquiry through the local Circle Officer. He said the inquiry confirmed that the video was recorded in Manas panchayat.
According to the SDO, a government boat was carrying dry ration packets to a ward in Manas panchayat for distribution among flood-affected families. During the journey, a large number of people approached the boat to collect relief supplies.
Boat Balance Disrupted Amid Rush
Singh said the boat began to lose balance as people tried to board it to collect the relief material. Keeping the safety of the officials and staff on board in mind, the boat was not taken further. Instead, the relief packets were distributed among the people at the spot.
The rush to collect the relief material led several people to enter the floodwaters, resulting in chaos at the site.
The video also highlights the difficulties faced by flood-affected families, who were seen entering deep water to reach the relief boat. The administration said relief distribution efforts are continuing in flood-affected areas.
