Patna: Construction has begun on a new four-lane road in Patna, aimed at improving connectivity between Ashok Rajpath near Bans Ghat and the JP Ganga Path. The project is part of a broader initiative to strengthen road infrastructure in the city.
Once completed, the road will allow commuters to travel from Income Tax Roundabout via Mandiri Nala to JP Ganga Path more easily, while also enhancing access to key areas including PMCH, Gai Ghat, Kangan Ghat, Didarganj, and Bailey Road.
The 600-metre stretch, designed similarly to the existing connection from LCT Ghat to JP Ganga Path, will include new U-turns and right turns to facilitate smooth traffic flow. According to project sources, vehicles coming from JP Ganga Path will be able to turn right near Bans Ghat to join the new Mandiri Nala road.
The construction, undertaken by M/s Banshidhar Construction Private Limited under the supervision of the Bihar State Road Development Corporation, is expected to cost around Rs52.28 crore. A 90-metre bridge will also be built over the Ganga by the Water Resources Department to further reduce traffic congestion.
Officials anticipate the road will be completed by February next year, provided there are no delays, and it is expected to ease congestion for commuters travelling from Bailey Road, Chajjubagh, and Gandhi Maidan towards JP Ganga Path.
