Patna: As the first phase of voting for the Bihar Assembly Elections began on Thursday, political heat intensified across the state with leaders making emotional and sharp appeals to voters. From Tejashwi Yadav’s attack on the BJP and Nitish Kumar government to Mukesh Sahni’s emotional outburst and Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh’s light-hearted campaign moment — the final hours before polling saw a mix of emotion, accusation, and drama.
Tejashwi Accuses BJP of Bringing ‘Fake Voters’
On the eve of polling, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Grand Alliance chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav went live on Facebook to appeal to voters while launching a scathing attack on the BJP.
Tejashwi alleged that BJP members were “sending people by train” to cast votes in Bihar. “They have secured round-trip tickets. They didn’t run special trains during Chhath, but they are running them now,” he claimed.
Warning voters to stay alert, he added, “Please pay attention — fake voters may be coming on these trains. The BJP does this in several states.”
Taking aim at the state’s prohibition policy, Tejashwi said, “The liquor ban in Bihar has become a mockery. So many people have died due to spurious and country liquor, yet the government has done nothing for them. Please vote thoughtfully.”
Appealing for support to the Grand Alliance, Tejashwi added, “Elections are being held for 121 seats today. We appeal to the people of Bihar to vote in favour of the Grand Alliance. Our goal isn’t just to become Chief Ministers or Ministers, but to build a better Bihar.”
Mukesh Sahni’s Emotional Appeal
Meanwhile, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni broke down while addressing his supporters in a Facebook Live session on Wednesday evening.
“What didn’t I have? I used to drive the most expensive cars and live in a big house, but I left everything to serve society,” Sahni said tearfully. Recalling his personal sacrifices, he added, “I didn’t even realize when my child grew up. The whole of Bihar is my family, and we are fighting for our family.”
Akshara Singh’s Campaign Moment with Tej Pratap
Adding a lighter note to the campaign trail, Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh joined Tej Pratap Yadav in Mahua to show her support. During the rally, she jokingly asked Tej Pratap, “If you win, please give me a plot of land here.” To which Tej Pratap laughed and replied, “Absolutely.”
Her appearance drew enthusiastic crowds and social media attention, giving a boost to Tej Pratap’s campaign in his home constituency.
Tej Pratap Calls Mukesh Roshan a ‘Jaichand’
Earlier, on the last day of campaigning in Mahua, Tej Pratap Yadav stirred controversy by calling Mukesh Roshan — the RJD candidate from Mahua — one of the “five Jaichands.” He alleged that Roshan was given the ticket when his father, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, was unwell. “Lalu ji’s ill health was taken advantage of,” he said, hinting at internal rifts within the party.
Political Temperature Rises as Bihar Votes
With voting underway for 121 constituencies in the first phase, Bihar’s political landscape is buzzing with drama and emotion. Allegations, emotional appeals, and local campaign moments have all added colour to an already high-stakes election. Results will be declared on November 14.
