Mastichak/Patna: Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani visited Bihar’s Saran district on Sunday to launch a major rural healthcare initiative in partnership with Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital.
The “Adani Eye Care Project” was inaugurated at Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital in Masti Chak by Gautam Adani and his wife and chairperson of Adani Foundation, Priti Adani.
The initiative is a joint project between the Adani Foundation and the hospital and will include:
- the Adani Centre for Eye Diseases
- the Adani Training Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences
Officials said the project aimed to create one of the world’s largest rural eye care networks focused on affordable and accessible treatment in underserved regions.
Adani Announces Major Bihar Investment Plans
Speaking during the event, Gautam Adani said the group intended to invest between Rs 50,000 crore and Rs 60,000 crore in Bihar over the next two to three years.
He stated that projects related to:
- power infrastructure
- road connectivity
- social infrastructure
were already underway in the state.
“We have already made commitments regarding power and road infrastructure projects. Work is also progressing in the realm of social infrastructure,” he said.
He added that the group also planned to contribute to Bihar’s education sector, including schools and colleges.
Visit Included Temple Prayers And Foundation Ceremony
Upon arriving in Mastichak, Gautam Adani and Priti Adani first offered prayers at the Gayatri Temple before participating in the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital.
During his address, Adani described Bihar as a symbol of India’s “spiritual and cultural heritage”.
He said his visit to the Gayatri Temple had inspired him to contribute further towards social welfare initiatives.

Project To Focus On Rural And Underserved Regions
According to hospital officials, the project aims to expand affordable eye care services across rural and backward regions of North and Central India.
Once completed, the network is expected to provide:
- low-cost eye treatment
- advanced ophthalmic training facilities
- village-level screening services through mobile vans
Officials said the initiative sought to combine world-class training with affordable healthcare delivery in remote rural areas.
The organisers said the project aligned with Gautam Adani’s stated philosophy of “Seva Hi Sadhana Hai” (“Service is Worship”).
Adani Group Expanding Presence In Bihar
The Adani Group already has multiple ongoing and proposed projects in Bihar.
These include:
- a 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur, through Adani Power
- the Sultanpur-Sabour road project under the Ganga Path initiative through Sultanpur-Sabour Road Limited
- proposed cement manufacturing units in Muzaffarpur and Kishanganj through Ambuja Cements
Officials said the new eye care initiative marked a major expansion of the group’s social infrastructure footprint in Bihar.
