Patna: Railway authorities have announced a temporary diversion of two trains due to redevelopment work at Gaya Junction railway station. The changes have been implemented after a traffic block was granted to facilitate construction activities at the station under East Central Railway.
According to officials from the North Eastern Railway’s Varanasi division, the Rajgir–Banaras Express 15137 will operate on a diverted route until March 21. Instead of running via its regular Patna–Gaya–Son Nagar corridor, the train will travel through Patna–Ara–Sasaram–Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction–Varanasi Junction during the period of the traffic block.
Similarly, the Banaras–Rajgir Express 15138 will also follow a revised route until March 21. The train will run via Varanasi Junction–Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction–Sasaram–Ara–Patna instead of its usual Son Nagar–Gaya–Patna route.
Meanwhile, the railway administration has also announced a special initiative to mark International Women’s Day. On Sunday, the train running from Patna Junction railway station to Islampur railway station will be operated by a woman loco pilot, highlighting the growing participation of women in railway operations.
The train is scheduled to depart from Patna Junction at 10:30 am. Officials from the Danapur Railway Division said the initiative aims to recognise women’s contributions and capabilities in technical and operational roles within the railways.
Railway authorities added that the entire operation of the train will be handled by a team of women loco pilots and female railway staff. The move is expected to send a strong message of women’s empowerment while encouraging more women to pursue careers in the railway sector.
