Gayaji: A tragic incident in Gayaji, Bihar, has left five teenagers dead after they drowned in a river while making social media reels. The accident occurred in the Keni River, near the Khijrasarai police station area, at the border with Belagnj. All nine students had been returning from school when they decided to bathe and film videos in the river. While five lost their lives, two are in critical condition in hospital, and two others managed to escape safely.

Local villagers rushed to help the boys after hearing their cries for help. They were able to pull the students out of the river, but sadly, five of them could not be saved. The deceased have been identified as residents of Chhotki Masjid Bela, under Belagnj police station. The sudden loss has left families and the local community in deep grief, with relatives arriving at the scene in shock.

Authorities, including the Station House Officer of Khijrasarai police station and the Circle Officer, are investigating the incident. Preliminary reports suggest that the boys were engrossed in making reels and entered the deep waters of the river without realizing the danger. Police officials are also reviewing safety measures in the area to prevent such accidents in the future.

SDM Keshav Anand confirmed that the families of the deceased have been informed, and the two critically injured teenagers are receiving intensive medical care. The tragedy highlights the risks posed by rivers and deep water, especially for children and teenagers. Officials have urged parents to closely monitor their children and warned youngsters against venturing into dangerous water bodies while filming videos or participating in social media challenges.
