Gayaji: Police in Gayaji have revealed that a shocking extortion case involving a senior government doctor was completely false and deliberately planned. Dr Satyendra Kumar, head of the neurosurgery department at Magadh Medical College, had earlier claimed that unknown people demanded Rs 1 crore from him and threatened to kill his wife. After a detailed investigation, police now say there was no extortion at all, and the complaint was made to hide a serious money dispute.
According to police officials, Dr Kumar had started Diamond Nursing Home near the residence of the senior superintendent of police in Gayaji along with a partner named Naushad. The building was rented for Rs 3 lakh per month. Most of the money for medical equipment, staff salaries and other expenses was invested by Naushad and his brother, who lives in Mumbai. In the beginning, the nursing home earned profits, but later Dr Kumar allegedly stopped visiting the hospital and did not pay his share of expenses for almost a year.
As the unpaid rent and other costs increased, Naushad repeatedly contacted the doctor, asking him to clear the pending amount. Police say that instead of settling the dues, Dr Kumar reported these calls as extortion threats and lodged an FIR. He claimed that he received calls on December 27 and 31, 2025 demanding Rs 1 crore and warning that his wife would be killed if the money was not paid. Soon after the case was registered, Naushad left Gayaji and went to Mumbai.
The police investigation took a turn after call records showed that the alleged threat calls were linked to Mumbai. When questioned, Naushad explained the financial dispute and denied any extortion attempt. Police also found a video submitted as evidence to be suspicious, as it was recorded by the doctor’s wife, Vibha Kumari. This raised doubts about the truth of the claim. Following further questioning, police arrested four people, including the doctor and his wife. Officials say the case shows how a private financial dispute in Gayaji was wrongly turned into a serious criminal matter.
