Patna: Gold prices in Patna have gone up sharply during the festive season, with 24-carat gold now selling at Rs 1,01,600 per 10 grams. Silver prices have also increased, reaching Rs 1,16,000 per kg. Both metals are at their highest levels since Rakshabandhan.
Jewellery traders say the rise is due to higher global demand, a weaker US dollar and the cost of crude oil. Many investors are buying gold and silver to make profits, but regular buyers are being cautious because of the high rates.
In the bullion market, 22-carat gold is priced at Rs 94,000 per 10 grams and 18-carat at Rs 77,000. With GST, 24-carat gold costs Rs 1,04,648 per 10 grams. Silver jewellery is being sold for Rs 114 per gram, with the GST-inclusive price of silver at Rs 1,19,480 per kg.
Exchange rates for old jewellery are also high, with 22-carat old gold at Rs 91,500 per 10 grams and hallmarked silver at Rs 111 per gram. On August 1, 24-carat gold was Rs 99,700 per 10 grams and silver was Rs 1,15,000 per kg, meaning both have risen in the last 10 days.
