Patna: A large fire engulfed several vehicles seized at Gopalpur police station in Patna’s Sampat Chak market area on Saturday evening, sending thick smoke into the sky and triggering explosions as tyres and fuel tanks ignited.
Fire tenders rushed to the scene, where authorities battled the flames amid growing panic in the surrounding area. Station in-charge Amit Kumar coordinated the response, instructing emergency teams and urging local residents to stay at a safe distance. Nearby markets and roads were temporarily closed to ensure smooth rescue operations.
No major human casualties have been reported so far, though officials are prioritising the safety of those present at the scene. A joint team of police and firefighters is assessing the property damage, while forensic experts and CCTV footage are being examined to determine the fire’s cause.
