Patna: The Grand Alliance unveiled its election manifesto, the “Tejaswi Pledge,” on Tuesday ahead of the first phase of voting in Bihar, emphasising not only the priorities of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) but also highlighting the governance record of the Congress.
Leaders of the alliance’s constituent parties gathered in Patna to release the manifesto, which outlines a series of promises aimed at voters in the state. Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel described the manifesto as representing the collective vision of the Grand Alliance, rather than focusing solely on the RJD.
“The Grand Alliance’s ‘Tejaswi Pledge’ isn’t just about the RJD; it’s the manifesto of the entire Grand Alliance,” Baghel said. “We have fulfilled all the promises we made in the states where we govern or have previously governed. The BJP, on the other hand, fails to honour its commitments even after promising them.”
RJD leader and the alliance’s chief ministerial candidate, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, outlined key elements of the manifesto, including the reinstatement of the Old Pension Scheme. “We will work to implement the promises we announced yesterday together,” he said. “We have made significant commitments… The NDA’s manifesto has not yet been released.”
