Hajipur/Patna: Three people were killed and four others injured in a tragic road accident near Naiper under the Industrial Police Station area in Hajipur, Vaishali district, early on Monday morning. The collision occurred around 4 a.m. when a luxury car travelling from Jandaha to Hajipur crashed into a 16-wheeler truck parked on the wrong side of the road.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the front portion of the car completely mangled. Police officials confirmed that three passengers died instantly, while four others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Sadar Hospital in Hajipur.
All the deceased were residents of Madhya Pradesh and had been in Bihar to conduct exit polls for the ongoing Assembly elections. They were identified as Rajabai Chaudhary (23) of Gunaur, Hemant Pratap Yadav (24) of Chhatarpur, and Ramswaroop Yadav (23) of Kardhania Bakswaha.
Industrial Police Station Chief Arvind Paswan said that police recovered the bodies with the help of a crane and sent them for postmortem. The injured were identified as Pushpa Chaudhary (28) of Hajipur, Shalini Verma (26) and Kapil Kumar (24) of Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, and Shivam Kumar (19) of Samastipur.
Shivam Dwivedi, supervisor of the survey company employing the victims, said the group was returning from Kishanganj after completing election survey work.
Police said preliminary investigation suggests the truck was parked illegally on the wrong side of the road, which led to the accident. An FIR has been lodged, and authorities are tracing the truck driver, who fled the scene after the crash.
