Patna: The Hindustani Awam Morcha HAM (S), led by former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections 2025, featuring six names.
Among the key candidates are Deepa Kumari, Manjhi’s daughter-in-law, who will contest from Imamganj, and his sister-in-law Jyoti Devi, fielded from Barachatti. Other candidates include Anil Kumar (Tikari), Rohit Kumar (Atari), Praful Kumar Manjhi (Sikandra), and Lalan Ram (Kutumba).

Manjhi, who had earlier demanded 40 seats from the NDA alliance, received only six under the final seat-sharing arrangement — a decision that initially caused discontent within his party. However, following the announcement, Manjhi signalled unity, posting “Vijayi Bhavaah” (Be Victorious) on X.
Before distributing election symbols, the HAM (S) chief addressed his party workers on social media, acknowledging internal frustration but urging them to remain committed to the NDA.
“Yes, we got fewer seats, and our workers are disappointed. But that doesn’t mean we push Bihar towards jungle raj. HAM stands for Bihar’s honour and peace,” Manjhi wrote on X.
Political observers say that despite limited seats, HAM’s influence in Gaya and Magadh regions could prove crucial for the NDA’s prospects. Manjhi had also hinted at contesting against Chirag Paswan’s party in Bodh Gaya and Makhdumpur, signaling ongoing tension within the alliance.
