Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau has arrested Dr Ajay Kumar, Additional Director (Health) of the Tirhut Division, after he was allegedly caught accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 during a trap operation in Bihar.
According to officials, the action followed a complaint alleging that money was being demanded in exchange for completing official work. The bureau subsequently conducted a verification exercise and found sufficient grounds to proceed with a trap operation.
Trap Operation Conducted Following Complaint
Officials said the vigilance team devised a strategy after confirming the allegations. As part of the operation, the complainant was sent to meet the accused official with the agreed amount.
The bureau stated that Dr Ajay Kumar was apprehended immediately after allegedly accepting the Rs 40,000 bribe. The cash was recovered during the operation.
Accused Taken into Custody
Following the arrest, the accused official was taken into custody for questioning. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged demand for the bribe and the official work linked to the complaint.

Documents and Records May Be Examined
Sources indicated that investigators may scrutinise documents and records related to the official’s office and other locations connected to the inquiry.
Officials believe the examination of records could help establish whether the alleged incident was an isolated case or part of a broader pattern requiring further investigation.
Inquiry Continues
