Patna: A 27-year-old woman in Patna has accused her partner of forcibly attempting to convert her to Islam, threatening her with death if she refused to comply. According to her complaint, the woman met medical student Seraj Ahmed around three years ago while undergoing treatment at NMCH. At the time, Seraj introduced himself as Sonu.
The woman said the two began dating and moved in together in a PG hostel near the hospital. She later discovered his real name when she overheard him speaking to friends and checked his documents. When she confronted him about hiding his identity, Seraj allegedly told her her thinking was “narrow” and assured her they would marry.
The woman has claimed that Seraj forced her to keep roza, recite the kalma, read namaz five times a day, and eat beef against her will. She further alleged that during this year’s Eid, Seraj married another woman in Gopalganj.
On May 9, Seraj reportedly called her to a restaurant where an attempt was made to kidnap her. According to her statement, Seraj threatened that her fate would be worse than that of Shraddha Walkar, warning he would cut her into 25 pieces and dispose of her body. She has also alleged that he pressured her to convert to Islam.
The woman approached the state police chief’s Janta Darbar on June 19, filing allegations under sections related to rape, fraud, and kidnapping. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
