Students in Siwan will finally have access to a Kendriya Vidyalaya, inaugurated at Gorakh Singh Mahavidyalaya, Maharajganj, with plans to expand classes annually and construct a new Rs 60 crore building

Siwan: A Kendriya Vidyalaya has been inaugurated at Gorakh Singh Mahavidyalaya in Maharajganj, Siwan, bringing long-awaited relief to students in the region. Local MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal, former MLA Hemnarayan Sah, SDO Anita Sinha, SDPO Rakesh Kumar Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Patna Division Anurag Bhatnagar, and college director Abhay Kumar Singh lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the occasion on June 30.

Speaking at the event, the MP described it as a historic day for Maharajganj. He noted that the school should have opened in 2011, but delays shifted its establishment to Ujain, Daraunda, where it eventually closed due to lack of infrastructure. The MP said he raised the matter in the Lok Sabha and later met the Union Education Minister to push for immediate approval to start the school in Maharajganj.

He highlighted the pivotal role played by Abhay Kumar Singh, director of Gorakh Singh Mahavidyalaya, for allowing the school to operate within the college premises without hesitation. The MP urged local residents to enrol their children in the school to ensure quality education.

Deputy Commissioner Anurag Bhatnagar said the MP’s consistent efforts from Delhi to Patna were crucial in starting the school. Classes from 1 to 5 will begin this year, with an additional class to be added annually. He further announced that a dedicated Kendriya Vidyalaya building will be constructed at a cost of Rs 60 crore in the coming years.

The event saw students welcoming guests with songs, and dignitaries were honoured with shawls and plants. Principals and teachers from Kendriya Vidyalayas in Patna, Siwan, Motihari, and Chapra attended the ceremony alongside local BJP leaders and community representatives.
