Sheikhpura: Vande Bharat Express was involved in a tragic accident on June 30 in Bihar’s Sheikhpura district when a cattle herder was killed after being hit by the train. The incident took place near Jakhraj Sthan railway gate around 11 am when the train was travelling from Nawada to Kiul.
According to reports, two buffaloes suddenly came onto the tracks. Gopal Yadav, aged 50, rushed to save them but was struck by the train and died on the spot. Both buffaloes were also killed in the collision, which was so severe that the herder’s body was badly mutilated.
The loco pilot applied emergency brakes immediately, preventing a major accident, but the sudden halt caused panic among passengers. The front part of the train was damaged in the incident. After preliminary inspection by the technical team, the train continued its journey.
This is the second such accident involving cattle on railway tracks in the state this week, raising concerns over livestock management near operational railway lines.
