Patna: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Bihar State Council, hosted the second ICC Insurance Conference 2025 in Patna on Monday, calling for broader insurance penetration to fuel Bihar’s economic and social development. The event, held at Hotel Maurya, was themed “Insurance for All – Empowering Bihar’s Growth Story.”
The day-long conference brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including policymakers, regulatory bodies, insurance leaders and business representatives. Discussions revolved around the critical role insurance plays in strengthening financial resilience and social protection across the state.
The inaugural session featured insights from ICC Bihar Chairman Prabhat Kumar Sinha, ICICI Lombard’s Head of Emerging Markets Amit Gupta, and LIC Patna Zonal Manager Shravan Kumar. They were joined by Inderjit Singh, Secretary General of the General Insurance Council, and Satyajit Kumar Singh, Director of Ruban Patliputra Hospital, who spoke on the sector’s growing responsibility in public welfare.
Bihar’s Information Technology Minister Krishna Kumar Mantu and Member of the Legislative Assembly Sanjiv Chaurasia also addressed the gathering. They reiterated the government’s active efforts to improve insurance awareness and accessibility in rural and underprivileged communities.
Two technical sessions during the event focused on actionable strategies:

“General Insurance for India” spotlighted opportunities to scale general insurance through innovation, collaboration with state governments and inclusive practices. Panellists included representatives from ICICI Lombard, Tata AIG, National Insurance Company, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), and the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC).

“Bridging the Protection Gap” explored the importance of simplified products, digital tools and awareness campaigns to expand life insurance coverage. Speakers from LIC, Axis Max Life, Bandhan Life and Bihar government’s Jeevika programme shared successful interventions.
The discussions underscored India’s long-term target of achieving “Insurance for All by 2047,” with participants reaffirming their commitment to making insurance both affordable and inclusive.
The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Ritesh Anand, Chairman of the Finance Committee, ICC Bihar State Council, followed by a networking session for stakeholders and industry leaders.
