Gaya: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya has hosted the third edition of the International Research Conference on Mindfulness (IRCM) 2026, drawing academics, researchers, and students from across the globe, including Japan, Vietnam, and New Zealand. The two-day hybrid event aimed to advance research on mindfulness across management, social sciences, and allied disciplines.
Over 255 research papers were submitted for this edition more than triple the number received in 2024 reflecting growing international interest in mindfulness-based studies. The conference explored how contemplative practices can be integrated with modern research to enhance organisational performance and social well-being.
The inauguration was led by IIM Bodh Gaya Director Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, alongside conference conveners Dr. Remya Lathabhavan and Dr. Tina Bharti. Keynote speakers included Dr. Jyoti Bachani from St. Mary’s College of California, Dr. Vishal Gupta of IIM Ahmedabad, and Dr. Ramya Tarakad Venkatashwaran of IIM Calcutta. They emphasised mindfulness as a time-tested philosophy that fosters meaningful leadership and informed decision-making.
Twelve thematic tracks covered leadership, organisational behaviour, finance, education, decision-making, and sustainable development. Pre-conference workshops highlighted experiential learning, with sessions on professional mindfulness led by coach Shishir Arya and explorations of art, lifestyle, and contemplation by Dr. Surabhi Dayal of IIM Indore. The closing session featured international speakers who stressed global collaboration and the role of mindfulness in building resilient institutions.
IRCM 2026 underscored the relevance of mindful reflection in today’s complex world, reinforcing IIM Bodh Gaya’s commitment to integrating mindfulness in teaching, research, and leadership development to cultivate socially aware, responsible leaders.
