Patna: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has reported a promising start to its 2026 placement season, with Phase 1 of recruitment concluding successfully and students receiving a record number of offers.
The institute has consistently seen strong placement outcomes over the past four years, with more than 400 job offers annually. This year, the placement process is progressing on schedule, with 54.34% of the undergraduate (BTech) batch already placed. Phase 1 has seen the average cost to company (CTC) for BTech graduates rise to Rs 25.82 lakh per annum, a 17.66% increase from last year. For MTech students, the average CTC exceeded Rs 16.20 lakh, up 7.32% from the previous cycle. Several departments reported higher average and median salaries compared with previous years.
Key roles offered included software development engineer, system software engineer, member of technical staff, product engineer, data scientist, machine learning engineer, generative AI engineer, desk quant analyst, consultant, business analyst, and analyst. Top recruiters included Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Reliance, Tata Advanced Systems, BEL, BPCL, L&T, Optum, C-DOT, Sprinklr, and Media.net.
The season has also seen a surge in core and public sector unit (PSU) hiring across manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, and automobile sectors. Two students secured landmark offers of Rs 1.17 crore per annum, while four others have received international placements in Japan.
IIT Patna Director Prof T N Singh, Registrar Prof A K Thakur, A-Dean Resource Dr NK Tomar, and Associate Chair of the CCDC Rishabh Singh congratulated students on the outcomes. Phase 2 of the placement season is scheduled to resume in mid-January 2026, with the institute aiming to expand opportunities further.
