Patna: The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at IIT Patna, in collaboration with Tata Steel and BMW Ventures, has inaugurated the two-day Construction Conclave 2.0 to promote sustainability, innovation, and best practices in the construction industry.
The conclave, held on July 17-18, began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the presence of conveners Vaibhav Singhal, Nitin Kumar, and Anup Keshri, Associate Dean of R&D, along with industry leaders including Sandip Talukder from Tata Steel, Pabitra Biswas from Tiscon Retail Bihar, and Neeraj Bangur from BMW Ventures.
Part of Tata Steel’s Tiscon Grandmaster initiative to empower budding engineers, the workshop seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry by addressing pressing challenges in civil engineering through practical and innovative solutions.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Vaibhav Singhal emphasised the importance of such platforms in uniting experts, researchers, and practitioners to drive sustainable development. Anup Keshri highlighted that around 46% of India’s steel consumption is by the construction sector, underlining its critical role in infrastructure growth.
Key topics discussed include advanced applications of steel, durability of reinforced concrete structures, retrofitting techniques, zero-energy buildings, and cost-effective housing solutions. Participants will also engage in hands-on lab sessions at IIT Patna to gain exposure to cutting-edge construction techniques.
Day one featured insightful talks by domain experts, who stressed the indispensable role of civil engineers in building a sustainable future through durable and future-ready practices.
