Patna: In a major academic milestone, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has achieved an impressive position in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, released recently. The institute has been ranked in the 601–800 global band, securing the sixth position among all IITs across India — a remarkable feat underscoring its expanding global reputation and academic excellence.
Professor T. N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, expressed pride at the recognition, calling it “a testament to the institute’s unwavering commitment to excellence.” He said, “It is a proud moment for the entire IIT Patna community — our faculty, students, researchers, and alumni — whose dedication continues to drive us forward on the global stage.”
The Times Higher Education rankings assess universities worldwide across key indicators such as teaching, research environment, research quality, industry collaboration, and international outlook. IIT Patna demonstrated balanced and consistent performance across these parameters, with a Research Quality score of 70.4, Teaching at 34.8, Research Environment at 22.5, Industry Collaboration at 36.0, and International Outlook at 22.8. Its overall score ranged between 39.0 and 43.5, highlighting its steady progress across academic and research fronts.
