Patna: IIT Patna organised an Induction-cum-Orientation Programme on Friday to welcome new students of M.Tech, M.Sc, and PhD courses for the 2025–26 session. The event took place in the main auditorium of the institute.
This year, 468 students have taken admission in these programmes, including 113 female students. The number is expected to rise as some admissions are still ongoing. Students attended the programme along with their parents and guardians to learn about the institute and its facilities.
The event began with the lighting of the lamp by chief guest Prof. Ashok Ghosh from MCIRC Patna, Prof. B.N. Singh, Vice Chancellor of RGAU Raebareli, Prof. T.N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, Prof. A.K. Thakur, Dean of Administration, and other dignitaries. The programme introduced students to the academic structure, research opportunities, hostel life, library, and career development options available at the institute.
Prof. T.N. Singh advised students to work hard and be strong to face challenges in life. Prof. A.K. Thakur motivated them to make the best use of opportunities, while Prof. B.N. Singh shared his guidance. Chief guest Prof. Ashok Ghosh urged students to focus on societal research to help India progress. Faculty members and staff also attended the programme, making it a useful day for students to connect with their teachers and learn about the campus.
