Purnia: The Bihar government is building its third Khadi mall in Purnia district to support weavers, artisans, and rural businesses. This new mall is coming up at Bhatti Chowk with a total cost of Rs 6.64 crore. Officials said that about 60% of the construction work has been completed and the mall will be opened to the public soon.
The mall will be three storeys high and will have an area of around 14,633 square feet. Work is going on quickly to finish it on time. The Industries Department has shared information about the construction progress on its social media accounts.
This Khadi mall will sell Khadi clothes along with handmade products, village industry items, natural cosmetics, herbal goods, and artworks made by local craftsmen. The government hopes this will give local products a bigger market and help artisans earn better incomes.
At present, two Khadi malls are already running in Patna and Muzaffarpur. The new mall in Purnia will become a model for eastern Bihar and will also benefit artisans from nearby districts. The government aims to create more self-employment opportunities through these malls and make Khadi products popular among people.
