Patna: The India Alliance’s planned Vote Adhikar Yatra, initially scheduled to begin on August 10, has been postponed to August 17 in light of adverse weather conditions and the recent demise of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren. The yatra will now commence from Sasaram, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expected to lead the march alongside Leader of Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, and other key figures from the alliance.
Sources within the alliance confirmed that the decision was taken due to heavy rainfall across Bihar, widespread flooding in multiple districts, and severe waterlogging in urban areas. The change also comes as a mark of respect following the passing of Soren, a senior leader from the region.
While the detailed itinerary is yet to be officially released, the yatra is expected to traverse more than 30 districts, featuring both padyatras and public rallies. According to some reports, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi may also participate.
The Vote Adhikar Yatra is aimed at highlighting alleged irregularities in Bihar’s recent special intensive voter list revision. Alliance leaders plan to reach the booth level, engage directly with voters, and raise concerns over the ruling NDA government’s handling of electoral processes and governance.
